TRFM Gippsland League’s form was as hot as the conditions in round two of the Regional Victorian Netball League at Churchill on Friday night.
Bouncing back from a surprise opening night draw against Mid Gippsland, the reigning champions delivered a dominant performance after quarter-time to defeat East Gippsland 70-37.
The margin was just one goal at the first change, but a 24-5 second term broke the game open and the Gippsland girls did not look back.
Goaler Ramayer Gourley led from the front, tallying a stunning 44 goals in three quarters of netball.
TRFM Gippsland League’s 19-and-under team kicked off its campaign with a 32-goal win against North Gippsland.
Following an opening round bye, the Gippsland girls hit the ground running, racing out to a 24-9 lead at quarter-time.
Casey Sherriff was named best-on-court in the 71-39 win.
Meanwhile, TRFM Gippsland League claimed a 41-23 win in its first match of the 15-and-under competition and backed it up with a 24-goal win against Mid Gippsland at Sale last night.
The open and 19-and-under teams are back in action this Friday against Morwell Indoor Red and Mid Gippsland respectively, while the 15-and-under side takes on Sale Netball Red next Monday.
