Redlands United recruit Shoheel Khan believes the standard of PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues football will further his game in 2016.

Khan, 24, joins the Red Devils from Brisbane Premier League club Lions FC, where the attacking utility netted a four goals in 15 appearances on the way to last year's Premiership title.

He was also selected to the Brisbane Premier League Team of the Year in 2013 and figured prominently in Lions run to the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 last year.

However, Khan said he was eager to “get out of his comfort zone” this season and saw the national second tier as the place to test himself.

“There’s no doubting that our Lions squad was extremely talented last season, but I don’t think there was consistency in the league,” Khan explained.

“There wasn’t a tough game week-in-week-out, whereas in the NPL we are going to be up against the best players in Queensland and every week is going to be a challenge.”

“It’s going to help me to improve and develop as a player to have that challenge on a weekly basis.”

He added he had considered several potential clubs to join but was ultimately convinced to join the Red Devils after speaking with Technical Director Matt Chandler.

“I wanted to play in the NPL so I spoke to a few clubs in the league and I was happy about what Matt was looking to achieve at (Redlands) and the squad he was putting together.”

“I think the squad he has put together has a real chance of being successful this coming season,” Khan concluded.

Khan was part of the Redlands squad that faced Capalaba FC in a pre-season friendly last week ahead of their BLK Silver Boot pre-season tournament opener this Wednesday against Western Pride.
