Red Devils Kick-Off Pre-Season
Words: Michael Flynn
Redlands United Technical Director Matt Chandler is eager to see his team in match action for the first time in 2016 this week against Capalaba FC.
Last year’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Semi Finalists play their first pre-season friendly on Thursday night against Capalaba FC, who compete in the Brisbane Premier League.
Chandler said his squad is coming together well and now’s the chance to step-up their preparations for the season ahead in a competitive match environment.
“It’s going to be a good pre-season test to look at our squad and incorporate some of the new boys. We won’t play everyone but we will play a number of the new boys,” Chandler said.
The Red Devils are seeking to build on their best PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season yet in 2015 and amongst their confirmed recruits for the season ahead is former Capalaba FC midfielder Paul O’Brien.
Chandler said the match offers the chance to continue to strengthen ties with their near neighbours.
“They are one of our catchment clubs and we got a couple of ex-players over there. It builds our relationship with them but will also be a competitive friendly,” he concluded.
The Red Devils will follow the friendly with a minimum of three matches in the BLK Silver Boot pre-season tournament in coming weeks.
