BLK Silver Boot Matches Confirmed
Words: Michael Flynn
The BLK Silver Boot draw has delivered a series of intriguing fixtures for PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs as they prepare for the home-and-away season.
Seven PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs will compete in the 16 team pre-season tournament - Redlands United, Brisbane City, Gold Coast City, Olympic FC, Brisbane Strikers, Western Pride, SWQ Thunder.
They will be joined by a host of Brisbane Premier League clubs, including tournament hosts Lions FC and defending BLK Silver Boot Champions Eastern Suburbs FC.
The competition features four groups of four teams in a round robin format. The top team from each group will advance to a four team play-off to determine the tournament winner.
The first PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs in action are Strikers and Olympic FC in an always competitive Brisbane derby in Group A.
Other PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs that will meet in the group stages are Redlands United and Western Pride in Group B, and Brisbane City and Gold Coast City in Group C.
SWQ Thunder are the only team not pitted against a fellow PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland club in the group stage but face a stern pre-season test against defending Brisbane Premier League Premiers Lions in Group D.
The tournament winners receive a $5000 share of the tournament’s total $7500 prize pool.
The four groups for the 2016 BLK Silver Boot are:
Group A – Brisbane Strikers FC, Logan Lightning FC, Mitchelton FC and Olympic FC
