PS4NPLQLD 2016 Schedule
Football Queensland has announced the match schedules for the PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland 2016 season.
The released match schedules cover all PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland age groups including Men’s and Women’s competitions - which are part of the national second tier for football in Australia - in addition to nine youth and junior divisions across boys and girls competition.
Both the Men’s and Women’s competitions will commence on February 27 and conclude with Grand Finals scheduled for September 3.
The season consists of a total of 135 matches in both Men’s and Women’s divisions to determine the respective PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Premiers (first place team after the home and away season) and PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Champions (winner of the Grand Final).
Both Men’s and Women’s competitions culminate in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals Series and feature the top four placed teams at the conclusion of the home-and-away season.
The Finals Series will feature two elimination Semi-Finals (1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd), with the winner of each Semi-Final qualifying for the Grand Final.

A blockbuster opening day of PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Men’s action will see ten clubs take the field across five fixtures.
The first match of the season will be played on the Gold Coast where Gold Coast City FC (previously named Palm Beach SC) will host Redlands United FC at Mallawa Complex.
Defending PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Premiers-Champions Moreton Bay United FC commence their title defence on opening day against Brisbane City FC at Corporate Travel Management Stadium in Brisbane.
The opening round will also see matches played in Toowoomba and Ipswich. Later rounds will see the competition take to regular venues in Townsville, Cairns, Sunshine Coast and Redland City.
Regional north Queensland fans will also be treated to some of the state’s best football action when Northern Fury once again take designated home games to Ayr and Ingham.
The 2015 Grand Final rematch between Jets and Strikers will occur in Round 4 and be played at the same venue as last season’s dramatic end-of-season decider - Wolter Park.
The schedule also includes several highly anticipated derbies throughout the year.
Northern Fury FC travel north to face FNQ FC Heat in the first Cairns-Townsville derby of the season in Round 5.
In the capital, the four Brisbane clubs will meet twelve times over the season with the first Brisbane derby in the opening round when Brisbane Roar FC Youth host Brisbane Strikers FC at Perry Park.
The final Brisbane derby of the home-and-away season is in the closing round as Brisbane Strikers FC host Brisbane City FC, also at Perry Park.
In the south-east, the growing rivalry between the coasts will see Gold Coast City and Sunshine Coast FC clash for the first time in 2016 at Mallawa Complex in Round 11.
The PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Men’s Premiers will qualify for the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Finals Series at the end of the season (details to be announced at a later date).

The PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Women’s season commences its second season with a record 12 clubs taking part with the addition of Redlands United FC to the competition.
The first match of the season will see Eastern Suburbs FC host South West Queensland Thunder FC at Heath Park in Brisbane on Saturday, February 27.
Defending PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Women’s Premiers-Champions The Gap FC commence their title defence the following day against University of Queensland FC at University of Queensland Field 5 in Brisbane.
The opening round will also see an additional match in Brisbane, two fixtures in Moreton Bay and another in Ipswich. Later rounds see fixtures will take in regular venues in Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Redland City.
The regional southern Queensland fans will also play host to fixtures in Kingaroy and Gatton featuring South West Queensland Thunder FC during the season.
The 2015 Grand Final rematch is scheduled for Round 11 when Gold Coast City FC (previously named Palm Beach SC) host The Gap FC at Bond University on the Gold Coast.
The schedule also includes several highly anticipated derbies throughout the year.
The first instalment of the Moreton Bay derby will see Moreton Bay United FC host Peninsula Power FC in Round 10 at Wolter Park.
Brisbane-based clubs will meet a total of twenty times throughout the home-and-away season to determine bragging rights as the premier women’s club in the capital.
The home-and-away season also closes with a capital city derby when Souths United FC host University of Queensland FC at Wakerley Park.
Also in the south-east, the growing rivalry between the coasts will see Gold Coast City and Sunshine Coast FC clash for the first time in 2016 at Bond University in Round 9.

The PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland includes youth and junior divisions for boys and girls as part of its role as the talented player pathway for Queensland’s next generation of football talents.
