Pride Add All-Star Karambasis

Western Pride have confirmed 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Under 23 All-Star Sean Karambasis as the club’s first new recruit of the off-season.
The 18-year-old former Northern Fury attacker joins five announced re-signings in Graham Harvey’s squad for the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season, with further announcements expected before year’s end.
Karambasis proved a dynamic impact player for Fury last season – delivering five goals in seven appearances in a season that was hampered by injury.
He said he is excited by the potential of the squad being assembled at Pride, who are seeking to better last season’s second-from-last finish.
“I moved down here with my family and I planned to trial with a few clubs but I ended up only trialing with Western Pride,” Karambasis explained.
“Once I had trained with them and talked to Graham and saw the boys and the talent they had to offer, I just didn’t think there was any other place I should go - Western Pride was the place to be.”
Karambasis added he is looking forward to building on his burgeoning PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland record and being a regular contributor in front of goal for Pride.
“I think everyone’s goal is to be a regular starter for their team but I will just be trying as hard as I can once I get on the field to please Graham and make sure our team gets the three points.”
However, he conceded one aspect of the move from Townsville that he isn’t looking forward to as much is acclimatising to Ipswich’s significantly colder winter nights.
“I will have to get used to it and find some way to keep myself warm – even if I have to train in a full tracksuit,” Karambasis joked.
Harvey said he sees Karambasis as playing a central attacking role as he continues to refine his squad.
“He’s done well in pre-season so far and obviously he was selected for the All-Star game at the end of last season,” Harvey explained
“Sean clearly has potential and now it’s up to us to help him develop that,” he concluded.
Pride play their first pre-season match this Saturday when they host Brisbane Premier League Champions Peninsula Power in a friendly at Kippen Park in Goodna.
