Moreton Bay United have retained the services of impressive midfield duo Matt Capelo and Liam Previtera for the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2016 campaign.
Both players were major contributors to the Jets breakthrough 2015 season that saw the club win the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Premiership and Championship double.
Despite being just 21, Capelo already boasts plenty of experience in the national second tier – amassing 64 league appearances and nine goals over the past three seasons at Jets.
He is currently recovering a leg fracture that will delay his pre-season return, however said he is eager to bounce back in time for the 2016 campaign.
“I’ve been out of action for a couple of months, so the immediate aim is to get better and get fit for next season,” Capelo explained.
“It’s a new challenge for me and it’s going to be like starting all over again. But it could work well for me because I don’t really rest very often.”
“Hopefully when I come back I will be fresh and ready to go again,” he asserted.
Capelo added he has his sights set on demonstrating the more attacking edge to his game next season.
“I hope to be more creative in the front third and try and express myself as a player,” he explained.
“It’s been my natural game since I was younger but last year I was more defensive minded and I am looking to get more goals,” Capelo concluded.
Previtera, 24, returns for a second year with Jets and will also look to add to his return of one goal in 21 league appearances for the club.
“It will be good to go on for another year and become even better than what we were,” Previtera said of the upcoming season.
“Personally I would love to go a lot further in the FFA Cup because of the opportunity to play against teams from the A-League and to test ourselves against that caliber of player.”
However, he added that replicating last season’s dressing room comradery will be crucial to any further on-field successes.
“Our club culture last year was really good and all the guys got on really well and were all about playing for the team.”
“This year it looks like we will have another good squad as well that wants to play for each other and that will be the biggest thing for us I think,” he concluded.
