Moreton Bay United have confirmed their latest recruit for the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season – ex-Sunshine Coast FC defender Ray Schultz.

Schultz’s signing continues a recent burst of squad activity from the defending PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Champions, with further signings to be announced in coming days.

The 25-year-old’s performances were a highlight of otherwise disappointing 2015 campaign for Fire – starting all 22 league matches and netting three goals in his first PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues season.

Schultz said he is looking forward to the challenge of establishing himself in a successful team and pushing for silverware in 2016.

“Personally for me I’m at the age now where I want to play finals football and I see Moreton Bay’s squad as being stronger than Fire for this season.”

Schultz commenced pre-season training with Jets earlier this week and said he believes the strength of the defending Champions can only benefit his game.

“No disrespect to the Fire, but it was good to have a training session where there’s squad depth that means you have to push yourself.”

“It’s a new challenge for me as far as having to prove myself to another team and teammates and having to cement a spot rather than having one already cemented."

“I think it will bring out the best in me and force me to go to that next level,” he concluded.

Jets Technical Director Adam Piddick identified Schultz as a key signing following the departure of fullback Ryota Nakaooka.

“I was quite happy with what I saw from Ray this year in the way that he played and his knowledge of the game. We will look to him to replace Ryota at left fullback,” Piddick said.

Schultz joins teenage striker Jacob Fulluck as the second ex-Fire player to link with Jets the upcoming season.
