Mark Tanti Comes Back Home

Pegasus Soccer Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Tanti as Senior Coach of their Gippsland Soccer League group for 2016. Supporting Mark in this role will be Jarrod & Joel Pirotta.

The professionalism, experience and knowledge that Mark brings will be a huge benefit to the players as well as the club itself. Mark has made the short trip back to Pegasus after a 15 year spell with Fortuna ’60 SC as a player and coach.

Mark spent 13 years at Pegasus between 1986 & 1998 when he arrived as a young enthusiastic 15 y/o. In that time he was a Victorian Country Representative, Australian U/18’s Indoor Soccer Representative travelling to England, Holland & Germany and he also captained Victoria in Indoor Soccer winning the National titles in Homebush NSW. He played one year as a junior then played at senior levels being very successful with the club. He also spent time on the committee as secretary and treasurer. He knows he has a big job ahead of him and the people that know Mark will understand his passion for the game and his desire to succeed. He accepts this challenge & believes that with the right coaching staff & the job of recruiting well is only going to help his cause and better the club.

Mark began his coaching career in 2002 and has led many teams to success in both junior and senior competitions. Mark’s approach to coaching has earnt him the utmost respect and loyalty of his players and peers. He is looking at re-building the club that was once a force to be reckoned with back in the 80’s & 90’s.
Mark is delighted to be back at the club where all of his family has spent a lot of their time there. Mark’s father (Fred) is a life member at Pegasus and is also coming back as the Team Manager. Fred was very happy on the appointment of his son and is excited to be back at Pegasus.

Mark is quite aware of the hardship that Pegasus has endured since their re-introduction back into the GSL in 2014, this is a challenge that Mark thrives on. He is looking forward in working with the current group of players at Pegasus & also in bringing in some new faces to the club and create a new desire which will turn into success.

Jarrod is a past player at Pegasus Metro level where he spent 5 years as a player then unfortunately his playing career was cut short due to a knee injury. Jarrod has also had coaching stints at Fortuna alongside Mark and is excited to team up with him again. Jarrod has an abundance of fitness experience & has an experienced soccer brain.

Joel (the younger of the two) suffered a knee injury whilst playing seniors 2 seasons ago at Fortuna and recently has had a passion to coach while being in a rehabilitation stage. He assisted in coaching the Fortuna ’60 Women’s team in 2015 and will now take the next step of his coaching. He is hoping to get back to match fitness where maybe one day he can put the boots back on.

Between the 3 of them they are surely going to raise some eyebrows come gameday.
Pegasus President Tommy Thompson & Committee are delighted with the appointment of Mark & Co and will work effortlessly with them to ensure they are given every opportunity to achieve their goals.
Mark will also work closely with Metro coach Ivan Bajo and Youth coach Matt Pace where they will be sharing ideas & competing against each other on training nights.

There will be a meet the coaches’ day at Morwell Pegasus Soccer Club on Sunday the 13th of December at 3:00pm. Mark, Jarrod & Joel would like to see all present players and all new players are welcome to come along and have a little kick followed by a BBQ.
