Echuca’s Scott Beattie has been selected to lead the GOTAFE GVFL in a restructured WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships in 2016 which will see country teams clashing with metropolitan counterparts for the first time.
GOTAFE GVFL Chairman David Roff was happy with the high quality field and the thorough process put in place to lead the league into a new era in the AFL Victoria Community Championships followed and the candidate approved by the board to lead the league into the new championships.
“We advertised the position and also promoted the opportunity through all our social media networks” he said.
“We had several worthy coaches submit an application, the board put together a panel to conduct interviews and through this process Scott emerged as the preferred candidate”
“Scott’s coaching record speaks for itself and the support team he wil put together is full of quality GOTAFE GVFL football people. We as a league are looking forward to taking on the EDFL and climbing the rankings in the new community championships”
Beattie views his GOTAFE GVFL role as an exciting challenge
“To be chosen to lead this high profile league into the championships is a massive honour and one which I look forward to taking on” he said.
“The new structure of the championships provides the league with a unique opportunity to test itself against the best in the state and I’m really looking forward to the challenge”
“I have started putting a panel together to help me select the best players, having the quality and knowledge of David Williams and Laurie Casey on board to assist in selection and game day coaching will be outstanding”.
“I’m really looking forward to working with all clubs and the leagues best players to make sure we assemble our best squad for the EDFL”
Jason Wells has also been reappointed as the U18s coach as the GOTAFE GVFL looks to work with EDFL to ensure there is a curtain raiser before the main game.
The GOTAFE GVFL Interleague team face the Essendon District Football League on the 21st May 2016 in Melbourne.
