McCloughan Backs PS4NPLQLD Pathway

Brisbane Roar Youth coach Josh McCloughan believes his current crop of young players will reinforce talent pathways from PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs to the Foxtel National Youth League and beyond.
McCloughan’s team made a winning start to their Foxtel National Youth League campaign last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Perth Glory Youth.
The Young Roar team included PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland products Harrison Sawyer (previously with Western Pride) and Joseph Champness (Moreton Bay United), as well as PlayStation 4 NPL New South Wales’ Mark Rodic (Blacktown City)
McCloughan said PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues clubs have an important and ongoing role to play in ensuring a strong Foxtel National Youth League and a progression of home-grown players into the Hyundai A-League ranks.
"We are always looking to them for the next generation of top young players," McCloughan explained.
"The Roar need their increasing support. We know how much hard work goes into their sides and player development and we hope to continue on from that process and take talented young players to the next level."
McCloughan has repeatedly stressed his side’s motivation in the Foxtel National Youth League is performance and not results, and suggested there was plenty more to come as his young side continues to gel in coming weeks.
"We are a work in progress as we've only been together a short time," McCloughan explained.
"It's going to take us a while to get in the direction we want to but there were some good signs from people early."
Young Roar will play their first home match of the season this Saturday against Melbourne Victory Youth at Cleveland Showgrounds, and McCloughan said he was eager to see more from his team this weekend.
"The message is always clear, right across the board. We are not there to waste any moments," McCloughan said.
"Every day is a chance to improve and this weekend against Victory will be no different.”
"All the boys that came in (to last weekend's squad) acquitted themselves reasonably well and they will be looking to improve from last week," he concluded.
