Carrara stadium electrical fire
Carrara stadium had an electrical cupboard short and go up in flames late Saturday night about an hour after rep had finished.
The fire stayed centralised in the cupboard. Extremely lucky for us as the cupboard basically backs onto our office.
Council have had professionals out this morning and as it currently stands…..
Carrara as a facility unlikely to have power for the next 4 weeks while they run their checks, bring in new system.
Gold Coast Basketball takes it safety of it's members very seriously and as such no games/trainings are to take place in Carrara until venue is approved to do so.
Office is not allowed to be used due to council regulations of the facility not having power and an active evacuation system.
Gold Coast has been on the phone all day to Council/BQ/Staff/Board/Teams affected today/Alternate Venues etc
I think we will be able to relocate the majority of the games for juniors without an issue.
Senior league (especially the former Celtics Senior comp) will be difficult. However, we are in process of organising.
Rep games and training as well will be affected..
Gold Coast will post more information on our facebook account as it comes through.

Joel McInnes
