Former Brisbane Roar Youth defender Josh Grommen has secured a professional deal with top tier Philippines club Stallion FC, according to reports.
Grommen, who is of Dutch-Filipino heritage and has represented the Philippines Under 23 team, was one of a dozen Young Roar players released by the club prior to the upcoming Foxtel National Youth League season.
The 19-year-old joins Stallion FC, who compete in the island nation’s United Football League competition, on a one-year deal.
The club is based in the town of Barotac Nuevo, which promotes itself as the “football capital of the Philippines”.
Grommen made 3 appearances for Young Roar in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Senior Men's competition in 2015 and previously represented Brisbane City and Queensland Academy of Sport in the Youth Men and Under 18 age groups, respectively.
He also previously played for Stallion FC’s UFL rivals Meralco Sparks and has been touted by the Philippine football media as a potential senior national team prospect.
