Former Brisbane Premier League players Shaun Carlos and Alistair Davis will make their PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland debuts with Brisbane Strikers in 2016.

The attacking duo, who both won major honours in the third-tier Brisbane Premier League last season, lifts the confirmed number of Strikers players for next year’s campaign to four.

21-year-old attacking midfielder Carlos joins Strikers from Lions FC, where he won the Gold Medal as the Brisbane Premier League’s player of the season.

20-year-old Davis won the Brisbane Premier League Golden Boot last season, netting an unrivalled 20 goals in 23 appearances for Wolves FC.

Carlos explained that while he enjoyed his time at Lions, he wanted to test his talents in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues.

“It wasn’t an easy thing to do, telling Mooney (Lions coach Warren Moon) that I wasn’t going to be playing for Lions next season,” Carlos explained.

“Lions has always been good to me but they’re not in the NPL and the NPL was where I wanted to be.”

“I want to better myself. I want to see how far I can go. I want to progress as a player and test myself against the best in Queensland,” he concluded.

Davis echoed his new teammates comments and said he was excited by the set-up at Strikers under coach Kevin A’herne-Evans.

“It’s something that is new to me and I’m really excited by it. It’s the whole setup – everything here, not just the NPL,” he explained.

“Obviously the NPL is a good carrot to play for - it’s a new challenge. But everything that’s going on here at Strikers is unrivalled so I’m really looking forward to it,” he concluded.

A’herne-Evans said the attitude and commitment of his new acquisitions was a key motivator in giving them their chance at the higher level.

“We like to get players who come in here saying ‘I want to play in the A-League, I want to play at the highest level possible’,” he explained.

“What that tells us is that we’ve got somebody who won’t struggle with the three nights a week commitment to play for Brisbane Strikers,” A'herne-Evans concluded.
