Allen Returns To City

Brisbane City have bolstered their goalkeeping stocks for 2016 by signing goalkeeper Tim Allen to their squad.
Allen becomes the fifth confirmed player for new City coach John Kosmina as he continues to mould his squad ahead of the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season.
The 23-year-old previously played for University at Albany in upstate New York, before his most recent stint with Northern Irish club Ballymena United in the NIFL Premiership - the country’s top tier.
In 2013, he made two PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland appearances for City in between United States college seasons - keeping a perfect record of two clean sheets against QAS and Palm Beach SC.
Allen said he opted to return to City for the upcoming season due to the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues’ growing reputation as a proven player pathway.
“I really see the NPL as a pathway to professional leagues all over the world now,” Allen explained.
“I’ve seen a lot of success stories coming out of the NPL like (ex Brisbane City player) Kenny Dougall, who really consolidated in the NPL.”
“They may not have been sure what their next move was but they had consistent performances over a long period of time in the NPL and then the opportunity came.”
He added that he was impressed by the improving quality of PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland as it approaches its fourth season.
“I was with City for between three months between college seasons and I have to admit you could sense some teething problems in that first season.”
“There was also a bit of competition between the NPL and Brisbane Premier League at the start but now I think the NPL has clearly separated itself as the strongest competition in Queensland.”
Allen said despite harbouring ambitions to return to professional football, his priority right now is becoming a solid contributor for City as the club seeks to improve on an inconsistent 2015 campaign.
“I want that consistent game time that I haven’t had for a couple of years. The college system is short and sharp - 20-odd games in 3 months - and then in Europe I had half a season and then was strung-out finding trials in the rest of Europe.”
“Hopefully I can do what Kosmina and the club want and can play a key role for the team this season,” he concluded.
