Well here we are the last Grand Final of the year in the country for the 2015 season and what a year it has been.
I arrived in January to this region with an understanding that football was a religion and to be honest it hasn’t disappointed. The towns involved in this competition get right behind their football and netball clubs which is great to see.
I want to thank the GOTAFE GVFL Board for their support over the last 8 months. The chance that they and AFL Goulburn Murray took with a bloke from QLD was a big one and I’m hopeful in their eyes it has paid off so far.
The ability for us to work as a team has enabled us to engage fans and supporters of this competition on a more regular occurrence with the addition of live scoring through the website and our social media presence continuing to grow. Fans have also over the next two weeks got an opportunity to have their say with our fan survey which can be found on our website.
The other big group of people I would like to thank are the clubs. Without the hardworking committees, volunteers, coaches and supporters no one would be able to watch the games let alone play them. You are all a credit to your community and I hope you all continue to support your club in season 2016.
To all 12 club presidents I appreciate the support you have all given me over this early part of the journey. The opportunity to talk to you all on a one on one basis has been invaluable and the expertise and insight you have all given me has been fruitful. I’m looking forward to continuing to assist all clubs into season 2016 and beyond.
A massive thanks goes to our major sponsor GOTAFE who have been very supportive throughout season 2015. The ability to utilise the resources that they have at their disposal has enabled this league to get better each and every week.
I would like to acknowledge all our other sponsors and media partners (too many to name) I also wish to thank you for your support for season 2015; coming into this role at the start of the year and working with many of you has made my job a lot easier than it could have been.
In saying all the above today is all about the 6 football teams and the 8 Netball teams who have earned the right to be eventually crowned champions in their respective competitions.
I want to wish all teams the best of luck today, you have all earnt your right to be here play hard, play fair and as always I’m looking forward to a bigger and better year in season 2016.
