Strikers Snare Meredith For 2016

Brisbane Strikers have added extra punch to their attacking third for 2016 after confirming the acquisition of prolific striker Rhys Meredith.
Meredith, 27, is the squads second confirmed signing for the next PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland campaign as Strikers push for a maiden title in the competition.
The pacy attacker boasts pedigree following a previous spell with South Melbourne in the former Victorian Premier League, as well as stints with Redlands United and Olympic FC in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland.
He scored 12 goals in 26 combined appearances for the clubs in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland over the past two seasons and said he was now eager to win trophies with Strikers in 2016.
“I’m turning 28 this year and I really want to win trophies and be in the best team I can be in, and I think this is the place to do it.”
“The way (coach) Kevin (A’herne-Evans) approaches each game is, in my eyes, almost A-League standard in the way he looks at things and studies opposition teams.”
“It also seems to be a good group of players that he’s got together – everyone gets along well. It seems like a good setup and definitely a place for me to do well moving forward,” Meredith concluded.
A’herne-Evans said he was a long-time admirer of Meredith’s abilities and believes he will be a good fit for the club.
“I really like his direct approach. He possesses a terrific ability to penetrate space in behind back lines and he generally works the front line really well,” A’herne-Evans explained.
“He has a ruthless streak to him in front of goal, so that again will be a big addition to our squad for next year.”
He added that depth in the striking ranks was a key concern after season-ending injuries to the key role had plagued Strikers previous PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland campaigns - including a season ending injury to leading goalscorer Jheison Macuace this year.
“We’ve had Jheison Macuace who had a terrific year, but it would have been great if someone else had chipped in with the goals a little bit more and that’s what Rhys has been brought in to do.”
“And he’s really hungry – he’s really going to grasp this opportunity to play for the Brisbane Strikers,” A’herne-Evans concluded.
