Western Pride goalkeeper Bon Scott will be part of the Newcastle Jets Youth team for the upcoming Foxtel National Youth League season.

The 18-year-old shot-stopper joins the Jets Youth side following a break-out year in PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland - earning his first ever senior start.

He received recognition for his performances, which included three clean sheets in 16 appearances, with selection to a Young Socceroos training camp in recent months.

Scott said he was now looking forward to testing himself in the Foxtel National Youth League against the countrys best young footballers.

I got a call-up from one of the coaches asking if I was interested in coming down because they were looking for another goalkeeper and I couldnt say no to it, Scott explained.

He added that the chance to play senior football with Pride this season was crucial to his development and the chance to advance.

I learned so much during the year both under Karl (Dodd) and Graham (Harvey). They are both very good coaches and haev taken the club in a really good direction.

Harvey conceded Scott will be difficult to replace in the Pride line-up but that he was delighted to see Scott advance on the talented player pathway.

“Obviously from Pride's point of view its further justification of our approach to first team operations and giving youngsters the chance to play in the NPL,” Harvey explained.

“Since I have been at the club, Bon has impressed me greatly with his professionalism, work ethic but also his ability and I know everyone at Pride wishes him well.”

Several PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland players have previously been selected for the Jets Youth team - including Braedyn Crowley (Northern Fury), Adam Edgar (Sunshine Coast FC) and Roman Hofmann (Palm Beach SC)

Scott said he hopes his performances at Jets can ultimately lead to a role in the clubs senior set-up.

I am hoping to secure myself a contract and play well in the coming years with the club, he concluded.

Jets Youth commence their Foxtel National Youth League season against Western Sydney Wanderers Youth in Newcastle in early November.
