UQFC star Georgia Chapman is ready to help guide a youthful PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Women’s Select in their friendly against Brisbane Roar at Goodwin Park.
Some of the state’s top female football talent will be on show today with Chapman to be amongst the most experienced on either side.
The 28-year-old is happy to fill a senior role for a Women’s Select squad featuring six teenagers.
“Hopefully I can pass on some knowledge and give plenty of talk out there, give them some confidence to give things a go and take on players,” Chapman said.
“It’s a good time for them to show what they can do and a good experience for them.”
Chapman is one of six squad members to have been part of a Westfield W-League club.
The former Roar and Adelaide United player insists the team can reach the kind of understanding required to compete.
“Really talented players should be able to play together at that next level. Football is an international sport and you can play with people that speak different languages so for us to be able to gel out there it should be pretty easy,” she said.
“I think it’s a good experience for us to play alongside some of the more talented players in the league and get to know how they play.
“Hopefully we can get a win, that would be awesome.”
Sunday’s match will feature a heavy UQFC connection with Chapman joined by Greta Bodey, Bek Horsey and Katie Winter in the Women’s Select.
Chapman expressed full confidence in her club teammates’ abilities to handle the occasion.
“I don’t think any of them have played at W-League level so for them to get out there and do well on Sunday would be great because they can show Belinda or other teams what they can do,” she said.
“I think they’ve definitely got the potential to play W-League, the three of them.”
