PS4NPL Finals Series Preview
Words: Staff Writers
Four clubs remain in the hunt for the title of PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2015 Champions, including Queensland's Moreton Bay United.
The PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Premiers will face PlayStation 4 NPL New South Wales Premiers Blacktown City in a blockbuster Semi-Final in Sydney on Saturday night.
Both clubs recorded comfortable wins in their Elimination Finals last weekend, Blacktown earning hosting rights after a 4-1 win over Canberra FC while Jets stormed home 3-1 over Edgeworth FC Eagles.
Blacktown City FC will be bolstered by the return of defender Zach Cairncross from suspension but will be without start attacker Patrick Antelmi after he was sent off against Canberra.
Jets are expected to field a full-strength line-up for the clash led by experienced striker Royce Brownlie and featuring the dynamic Charles Mendy out wide.
This match marks the Jets first ever competitive fixture outside Queensland in their three year history.
Sunday’s second Semi-Final features a showdown between PlayStation 4 NPL Western Australia Premiers Bayswater City and PlayStation 4 Victory League Premiers Olympia FC in Perth.
Bayswater City earned hosting rights after fighting from a goal down against West Adelaide SC in the South Australian capital last weekend.
However, they will need to be alert against an Olympia outfit that caused arguably the biggest upset in the competition’s history in their Elimination Final - toppling highly fancied PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria club South Melbourne FC on the former National Soccer League outfits home turf.
However, Olympia will be without the services of midfielder Shae Hickey after he received a red card in the opening half against South Melbourne.
Hosting rights for the Grand Final will be determined by which club has accumulated the most points across the Finals Series.
Currently the points tally is as follows - Blacktown City - 11; Moreton Bay United - 10; Bayswater City - 7; and Olympia FC - 2. (Click here to see the full points breakdown)
Tickets for both Semi Finals will be available at the respective venues on match day, while both matches will also be LIVE streamed via www.nationalpremierleagues.com.au
