PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Women’s Grand Final and Premiership winning coach Rob Askew will return with The Gap FC Women in 2016, it has been confirmed.
The Gap FC made the announcement via their website earlier this week, also confirming that Premiership-Championship winning captain Bec Price will coach the club’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Under 13’s team.
The statement on the website also confirmed Askew will continue his role as Technical Director in addition to coaching the Women's team.
Askew was recently announced as the coach of the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Women’s Select team to play against Brisbane Roar’s Westfield W-League side this Sunday.
Askew guided The Gap FC to an historic inaugural double in Queensland’s elite women’s competition this year with a 2-1 win over Palm Beach SC in the Grand Final.
That result furthered a recent run of success for the club’s women’s programme - which includes a range of titles in community competition in recent seasons.
Under Askew’s guidance since 2012, the senior women’s team has won three Premierships, four Grand Finals and five cups.
The statement on the club website said, “This outstanding success has been achieved with players that have been developed from within our junior ranks.”
“A key foundation of this success at (sic) is high quality coaching and the club believes these outstanding coaches will continue The Gap’s fine tradition of developing exceptional female players.”
