South Toowoomba Bombers V Dalby Swans
First Bounce: 11:00am
The 2015 season has been dominated by 3 teams in the McDonalds Cup; Souths, Dalby and University were only separated by 1 win on the ladder. Souths and Dalby are the two to remain. Souths haven’t won a Top age Youth premiership since 2005 while the Swans haven’t tasted victory since 2011. Both teams will be desperate to engrave their name on the Trophy.
The Bombers have been by far the heaviest scoring team in the competition scoring an impressive 84 points per game. The Swans have been the best defensive team however only conceding on average 31 points against. The best attacking team or the best defensive team, who comes out on top? If either of the two previous games are anything to go by we could be in for a nail biter. In Round 14 the Bombers raced to a 28 point lead in the first quarter and never let the Swans back in the game tasting victory with a hard fought 30 point win. Their most recent encounter was an epic arm wrestle between two star studded teams. The Swans raced to a 23 point lead by half-time. The Bombers kicked 7 of last 9 goals to steal an unlikely 3 point victory.
This game is between two hard and skilled teams. Both teams love to win the contested ball and then push to the ball to their outside runners. These two teams are super skilled and fast. Once the ball gets over half way watch them both spread and link up to give their forwards the best chance one on one. This could be the most exciting game of the day as both teams love to crack in with contested ball and then spread fast to move the ball forward.
Don’t miss this game as both teams look to win their first U16 premiership in 4 years.

KEY MATCH UPS
Ryan Neumann/ Tyler Gilmore V Finn Collison/ Daniel Gillespie– These 4 players finished as the 4 leading goal kickers for the season. Neumann and Collison are the powerful key forwards who can big bags of goals and use their super marking abilities to give them an edge over their opponents, think Josh Kennedy. Gilmore is a tall roaming forward who moves up the ground to link from defence to the forwards and then turn his man inside and push hard back to the forward line, think Nick Riewoldt. Gillespie will be shortest of the 4 but his goal sense is second to none. Gets on the move and becomes damaging around the feet of Collosin, think Mark LeCars. This game is set for 1 if not more of the big forwards to kick a big bag and lead their team to victory.
Paul Leidig V Sean Melbin – The battle of the key midfielders will be important, both these boys love the physical contest and are classy users by hand and foot. Both have exceptional pace of 5-10metres and can change games on their own boot. The key will getting their hands on the footy and whichever can set teams up and push to kick an important goal could be pivotal of who will win this match.
Ash Britton V Thomas Strand – Expect these two players to crash and bash into contests as they have done all season. Britton for Souths and Strand for the Swans, they are two of the most courageous players in the competition and will put their bodies on the line for the team. If they match up on each other, it will be a mouth-watering match up, however, don’t expect that but do expect fireworks when these two are around the footy. Both are fast and will look to set their team mates up further up the ground.
Outside Handball Receivers – These players will have a huge impact on the end result of this match. The Bombers will look for Myles, Liddicoat and Brookes to move the ball through the middle of the ground. All three have the ability to take the game away from the Swans with their pace and tackling pressure first class. Their spread from the contest has been a massive part of the bombers going into the Grand-Final. The Swans have their own players who will look to get out into space and be damaging. Gillespie, Cook and Allen have had very consistent years for the Swans. All three boys have lethal skills and will have big roles in winning this match. Gillespie and Cook will roam around the midfield and forward line and look to be damaging on the outside while Allen while play a big role through the back half of the ground.
