There seems to be no clear favourite when it comes to the Men’s Rising Star award this season.
Pleasingly, it is one of the strongest group of youngsters in the last few years which gives credit to the great work both the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants Academies are doing.
St George lead the way in terms of nominations with five players, with Pennant Hills having four and North Shore with three. Only Sydney University’s Ben Hawtin played all 16 games this season.
The AFL Sydney Premier Division coaches will vote on the award, voting 1 to 5 on the nominated rising stars and they are unable to vote for any player from their own club.
Previous winners include; Harry Dobson (2014), Levi Sands (2013) and Sam Tagliabue (2012)
The winner will be announced on Phelan Medal night. The nominees are:
