University Cougars vs South Toowoomba Bombers
First Bounce: 8:00am
The University Cougars take on the South Toowoomba Bombers in the U12 McDonald’s Trophy. The Cougars have had the luxury of having the week off thanks to their 52 point victory over the Coolaroo football club a fortnight ago. The Bombers have played essential 3 elimination finals on the way to the Grand-Final. They moved past Coolaroo with a hard fought 8 point victory.
The Cougars will be looking to go back to back this year with a majority of their team playing in lasts years decider. The Cougars have not only gone through the season undefeated but they have monstered teams with their team first defence. The Bombers mean while haven’t won an U12 premiership since they won way back in 2006.
The Cougars will start this game heavy favourite but will the pressure get to them as they look to go through the whole season undefeated. If the game is close heading into the last quarter the Cougars may not know how to handle the pressure. The Bombers need to keep the game as close as possible. They are the least experienced side in terms of Finals appearance so it will be interesting to see how they handle the big occasion.
Can the Cougars continue their winning ways or will the fairy-tale story of the Bombers break through?
This game is not to be missed.

KEY MATCH UPS
Nicholas Maxwell V James Packer– If there was a match up alone to watch it would be these two. Both boys are super skilled and love the contested ball. Nicholas is the right footer who can win the inside ball and then push forward to kick team lifting goals. James is the left footer who loves the hard ball and then using his lethal left to set team mates up further u the field. Both these boys can run and carry the ball for their respective teams. They have been instrumental in their teams run to the Grand-Final. Whoever can get on top in this match up could get their team over the line.
Nyok Kag V Nicholas Nugent– The battle of the key midfielders will be important. Kag has had an exceptional season winning the U12 Best and Fairest Runner Up while Nugent has been electric all year for the Bombers. They are both clean with ball in hand and love to get out and run. Whichever player can gain the most meters could be a deciding factor in this game. These two players will be looking to have a big day if they are to get the victory for their teams on Grand-Final day.
Gracie Paynter V Sarah Browne – These two girls have been in very good touch over the last couple months and have been gearing up for the Finals Campaign. Paynter has flown under the radar through-out the 2015 season put will need to be watched closely by the Bombers. Paynter is strong in the contest and loves to tackle and has very good skills to move the ball forward. Browne has been a revelation for the Bombers. A mid-season recruit she has blossomed into one of the premier tacklers of the competition. Her ability to halt the momentum of opposition teams has been second to none and the Bombers will be looking for her to have a big day in the stoppages.
Brodie Speed V Owen Debney – If there were ever two players meant for September action it would be these two. They will not play on each other for much of the game as both are predominately forwards but can both push into the midfield when the time comes. Hopefully they both go to the midfield to go head to head. They use their speed and evasion skills to get out into space and roam high and wide. When they are out in space they are both very creative and will set team mates up and put the team on their own shoulders to kick clutch goals. Both the Cougars and the Bombers coaching staff will need to keep an eye on these two players respectively because they can win the game off their own boot.
