GOONDIWINDI's Jeremy Leahy says his second-straight Holman Medal triumph hasn't sunk in yet.
The Hawks stalwart topped the voting for the AFL Darling Downs best-and-fairest award on Saturday night to finish ahead of South Toowoomba's Danniel Lyon.
Leahy has played a huge part in Goondiwindi's rise from last place in 2012 to grand finalists this year, but he said he never expected to win back-to-back Holman Medals.
"I'm still in shock. I still can't believe I won it last year so to get it again is unbelievable," Leahy said.
Leahy was quick to pay tribute to the role his team mates have played in his individual success, especially coach Brenton Jardine.
"We've worked really hard to get to this spot," he said.
"I've been with the club since juniors. We've gone through some tough years where we've been down the bottom, but now we've made finals the last three years.
"It's been a great team effort. To win the individual award is great, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without the team around me."
Leahy can't celebrate his Holman success too hard as Goondiwindi still has a grand final to prepare for this weekend.
The Hawks will look to break a 15-year title drought against Coolaroo and Leahy was confident they'll be up to the challenge.
"We finally get a chance to play in the big one. That's what we all play footy for," he said.
Other Best and Fairest winners on the night included first year womens player Nicole Richards from the Toowoomba Tigers while Dalby's Mike Gaur was the recipient of the Division 2 Marj Shaw medal.
