The 2014 Women’s premiers the Dalby Swans will be fighting to keep their season alive tomorrow as they face off against Coolaroo in the preliminary final at Rockville Park.
The Swans endured another successful season in 2015 finishing minor premiers but were outclassed by the ever improving Toowoomba Tigers in last week’s qualifying semi-final. As such the Swans need a win tomorrow to keep their chances of back to back premierships alive.
If previous results are anything to go by then you would say that Dalby are certainties to take out this game. The Swans are 2-0 against the Roos this year with comprehensive wins in round 10 (136-20) and more recently in round 16 (160-0). But the Roos welcome back the class of players such as Whish, Skehan, Hose, Horsfall, McCormack, Krautz, Davis and Potter who were all absent in the round 16 clash.
For the Swans key forward Kira-Lee Dyke has been the main destroyer in both encounters against the Roos this season booting a combined 18 goals in these 2 appearances which included a massive bag of 14 in the round 16 clash. Dyke finished the season with a very impressive 83 goals and will need to be checked closely by Coolaroo in tomorrow’s match. Roos defender Michelle McCormack will most likely get the match up on Dyke and has the hardness and rebounding ability to negate such an influence on the game.
For Coolaroo the return of leading goal kickers Krautz (36) and Hose (31) will be a huge boost for a forward line that failed to register a score the last time these teams met. With a finals appearance on the line don’t expect another blowout in this encounter.
