For the first time since it was first awarded in 1999, there was a three-way tie for the ‘Frosty’ Miller Medal after the completion of the 2015 Peter Jackson VFL home-and-away season.
Key forwards Jordan Lisle (Port Melbourne), Liam McBean (Richmond) and 2014 joint-winner Sam Grimley (Box Hill Hawks) all finished on a tally of 42 goals.
Lisle and Grimley entered Round 20 on 41 majors – one ahead of McBean on 40 – but could only manage a single goal each against the defences of Collingwood and Williamstown respectively.
Meanwhile, McBean booted two goals against Essendon in at-times terrible conditions at Windy Hill to edge his way onto the honour roll.
The AFL-listed Tiger claims a piece of ‘Frosty’ after finishing one goal behind Grimley and former Port Melbourne forward Dan Connors last year, while Lisle shares the award in his first season with the Borough after being delisted from the Brisbane Lions last year.
Grimley was the last to join the tie for the medal, leaving his run for his only goals against Williamstown till 18 minutes into the final term.
Well done to all three, who will be recognised for their achievement at the J.J. Liston Trophy night next Monday September 7.
The night will be live video streamed via the VFL website HERE.
