The major Semi-Finals are in for the under 16 McDonalds Cup with the South Toowoomba Bombers take on the University Cougars.
Souths and the Cougars have played each other twice and both teams have taken the points. Home ground advantage doesn’t matter with either side as in Round 10 the Bombers travelled to Uni and ran away 5.5-35 to 12.7-79 victors. In the rematch the Cougars travelled to Heritage and touched up the bombers by 65 points. This game is being played at neutral venue at Rockville so this game should be close.
The Bombers have been the most attacking side in the competition racking up a total of 1169 points while the Cougars have been the third best attacking side in the competition. The Bombers have 3 forwards in the top 10 leading goal kickers. Ryan Neumann and Tyler Gilmore have kicked a combined 71 goals for the season while William Packer has chimed in 20 of his own. For the Cougars they will look for impressive talls Harry Potter and Jackson Paynter to kick their goals.
Both these teams possess impressive midfielders that can take the game away from the opposition. The Cougars will look for Deng Arok and Emmanual Fallah to extract the ball out of the midfield and use their pace to burn past the Bombers players. However their main weapon is the silky skilled Abdullah Haddad who loves getting into the open spaces and running forward. For the Bombers they will try to use their size and aggression to roll over the top of the Cougars. They are led by Paul Leidig and Ashley Britton. Both these boys have x-Factor about them. They love the hard ball and love to push forward. However the key for the Bombers is their inspirational Captain in Callum Walters. He leads from the front and will be keen to give his midfielders first ball usage and his follow up work is a reason why the Bombers get on top in the midfield.
If there was a match where you can’t use past results as a form guide then this will be the game. Both teams will be desperate for the week off and move into the Grand-Final. This game will go down to the wire and whichever team can use their bigger bodies to move the ball forward and make the correct decisions will come out on top in this epic match.
