GOTAFE GVFL Volunteer of the Month (July)
The GOTAFE GVFL has been highlighting volunteers and coaches throughout the year and also announcing a volunteer of the month who will be in the running to be voted and nominated GOTAFE GVFL volunteer of the year at the Morrison Medal night.
Congratulations go to Ali Yze from the Shepparton United Football Netball Club who is the GOTAFE GVFL Volunteer of the Month (July).
Ali is the quiet achiever of the Shepparton United Football Netball Club, and this nomination will come as a big surprise as Ali likes to just go about doing his role without the fanfare.
Home games are always big days for Ali as he arrives at the venue well before the players do to ensure that the ground is in tip top condition. He puts a fresh coat of paint around the ground as he is marking it, puts up the padding and generally ensures that the ground is ready for the games.
Once he has done this he starts to prepare for arguably his biggest role of the day where he dons the white coat, and walks out to waves the flags as goal umpire for the reserves each and every week.
Ali also throughout the day ensures that everyone’s appetite is fulfilled as he is the chief chip cook every home game making sure the supply of hot chips in the canteen, continue throughout the day for the masses.
George Moore President of Shepparton United said “Ali is fantastic for this football club. Come rain, hail or shine he is willing to roll up his sleeves and get to work for the benefit of the club as a whole”.
“To have someone who isn’t only as dedicated as Ali, but is also able to assist in a variety of volunteer roles is a big bonus for us as a football club”.
The amount of hours Ali volunteers to the club is outstanding and very much appreciated by all footballers, netballers, supporters and committees and the GOTAFE GVFL board, staff and clubs would like to congratulate Ali for being July’s GOTAFE GVFL Volunteer of the Month.
