Shepparton teenager Liam Duguid has relished the opportunity given to him by coach, Brad Campbell this year.
The 17-year-old has played 13 of possible 16 games in the seniors after making his debut against Mooroopna in round three despite still been eligible for thirds.
Duguid says he enjoyed the buzz of playing under lights.
And he hasn’t looked back either playing down back, up forward and even in the middle.
The Year 11 Notre Dame College student says he has a lot to learn after spending his first game in the midfield in last Saturday’s loss to United.
Campbell believes the youngster has plenty of talent and he has been a really good contributor during the past two months when the Bears have won three matches.
And Duguid really respects the guidance Campbell is providing the team’s youngsters.
“He is a great communicator and a great coach,” he said.
“After each game he texts me to find what I thought and where I can improve my game.”
Duguid says he feels like the club is heading in the right direction and moving forward to once again be a successful team on the field.
“The feeling around the club has been really good and I’m starting to feel more confident within myself,” he said.
“I feel to that I can rely on my team-mates for help as well, but they have been really good in encouraging me to play my natural game.”
Shepparton rounds out its season with a home game against the Swans and a trip across the causeway to play Mooroopna.
“We are aiming to finish the season on a positive and we really want to win one of our last two games.”
