The highlight junior game for the first round of finals sees Dalby lining up against last year’s U16 premiers in Highfields.
The Swans accounted for the Lions in both encounters between these 2 clubs this season (rounds 5 & 9) and did so with relative ease. But take nothing away from the Lions who on paper look extremely damaging with the possible return on premiership players Sheath, Wren and Clark. These 3 possible inclusions are all key positions players who can influence the game in different ways. Sheath is superb overhead but his greatest asset is his decision making and poise in the contest. Wren has the ability to play ruck / key forward and is a tough match up with his size and agility while Clark has been one of the most damaging leading forwards in the competition over recent years. Add the hardness of Sam Baldock to the mix and you have a great blend of hardness and skill.
The swan’s line up doesn’t heavily rely on any 1 player and while Sean Melbin is the spiritual leader of the team they are very well balanced across the paddock. Melbin has had another standout season for the red and white but has been supported extremely well by the likes of Allen, Cook, Strand, Peltz, McVeigh and Gillespie highlighting the Swans even spread of talent
This one may come down to who wants it more.
