Moreton Bay United Women celebrated their first victory of the season by sweeping aside Souths United Women 3-0 at Wolter Park on Sunday.

Pamela Kennard's brace bookended a result which breaks Jets' duck in clean sheets, points and wins for 2015.

Souths, now separated by three points at the bottom of the ladder, will chase those milestones when the two teams meet again on Thursday night.

After a first 15 minutes without major incident, Kennard sparked the match into life by controlling well and netting the opener from Rylee Lemke’s pass inside.

Jets goalkeeper Renee Rudder made a fine back-pedalling save towards the end of the half which proved even more important when 16-year-old Lemke crossed for Rose Nisbet to volley home the hosts’ second.

Souths substitute Ruby Hooper came close to levelling matters in the 78th minute while Kennard also shot wide from inside the area.

However, the Jets forward made amends with around five minutes remaining by firing home her second and her team's third to seal all three points.

Speaking after the match, Jets coach Gary Ward said he was pleased for the players to finally be rewarded.

“It was always going to be the game we could target to win some points and they went out there today and did their job,” Ward said.

Souths technical director Paul Lonton said the performance disappointed more than the result.

“Credit to the girls, they still keep turning up, but just sometimes technique and execution isn’t really what it should be,” Lonton said.
