GRFC – (WOMEN’S DIVISION) ROUND 16 PREVIEW
KARDINIA International College will secure the minor premiership in the GRFC Women’s Division this weekend, assuming the Students don’t lose in their Round 16 clash with bottom side Corio Bay on Saturday.
Kardinia has skipped away from the chasing pack and is currently six points ahead of its nearest rival, second placed Deakin Ducks, who are away to 7th placed Barwon Heads SC.
Kardinia’s two prolific scorers, Sofia Harrop and Stephanie Cameron, have both scored 16 goals so far this season. With just three games remaining, both will be trying to catch Geelong SC Red’s Millie Livesey (18 goals) at the top of the Goalscorers’ chart.
At the same time, Livesey’s Geelong SC Red will be aiming to keep its slim finals’ hopes alive when it takes on sister team, 9th placed Geelong SC, at Stead Park. The Reds must win to stay in touch with 4th placed Surfside Waves, who are just four points ahead of the 5th placed Reds.
The Waves, meanwhile, travel to the White Eagle House to tackle the 6th placed Breakwater Eagles, while third placed Barwon SC is away to 8th placed Surf Coast FC in the other Women’s Division games on Saturday.
