Six Peter Jackson VFL players have been invited to take part in the NAB AFL State Combine for Victoria at Etihad Stadium in October.
They are Jordan Moncrieff (Casey Scorpions), Michael Hartley (Coburg), Ash Close (Collingwood), Mitch Brown (Sandringham), Jake Wilson (Werribee) and Andrew Gallucci (Williamstown).
Former Geelong AFL player Mitch Brown has impressed in his first season at Sandringham, starting up forward in the early rounds, with 16 goals for the season, before being swung into defence more recently.
He will be joined by fellow defenders Werribee’s Jake Wilson and Coburg’s Michael Hartley.
Wilson is in his sixth VFL season, starting with Williamstown before crossing to the Tigers hwere he has become an integral part of their back six, playing all 15 games in season 2015.
Former Collingwood listed Hartley is in his second season at the Lions, and continues to tackle the best forwards week in, week out, both AFL and VFL listed.
Andrew Gallucci, a former Calder Cannon, has impressed with 18 goals this season for the Seagulls from 13 matches as a 178cm small forward, after playing 18 games in the development league in 2014.
Tall forward Jordan Moncrieff has played just the four games this season for Casey Scorpions in the senior line up, kicking six goals, and has played seven development league games as well after joining from Mt Eliza.
Collingwood’s Ash Close has played just the two senior games this year, but the 199cm tall forward impressed recently with four goals against Frankston. He was a premiership player with Morwell in 2014 and kicked 117 goals with Ivanhoe in the VAFA in 2012.
All six will be tested in front of AFL recruiters along with a range of TAC Cup players who weren’t invited to the national Draft Combine.
Players needed at least two nominations from AFL clubs to be invited to attend the State Combine.
