The only Premier Division match to be re-scheduled to the wet weather round this weekend is Manly-Warringah vs UTS at Weldon Oval.
Manly-Warringah will go into the match strong favourites after they easily accounted for a listless St George last weekend.
The 73-point win could have been bigger if they were more accurate in front of goals- 17 goals from 37 scoring shots.
Damien Bonney returned to the side and was imperious with three goals and a host of possessions. He is an X-factor if the GIANTS are to go deep in the finals.
Brayden Fowler also proved his worth with seven goals, while at the other end of the ground, Rob Whitton was strong deep in defence with practically all of St George’s seven goals coming from small forwards.
The up-side is still there for the GIANTS in the development of Jack Parker, Jake Monk and Tom McCaffrey. All featured on the scoresheet last week and will need to continue their development to catch up to sides like East Coast whose list runs deep.
We were predicting a walloping for UTS against the ladder-leading East Coast but they gave a strong account of themselves despite the 12-goal loss.
Daniel Breese was best for the Bats with five goals- a great showing against the miserly Eagles defence.
The midfield division of Jason Fleming, Kaizaad Mehta and Josh Maddox were industrious and will need to be again against one of the best midfields in the competition.
Ben Nethersole will have an important role again on Fowler.
Manly were pushed by UTS on the Bats Ladies Day, and were lucky to pull away late in the match after UTS controlled the early stages.
Slowing Manly’s ball-use and ability to spread will be high on coach Nic Fosdike’s agenda.
Being consistent enough for long enough is going to be the Bats’ issue.
Danny’s Prediction: Manly-Warringah by 54 points
