GEELONG REGION FOOTBALL LEAGUE – (WOMEN’S) ROUND 14 PREVIEW
LAST week Surfside Waves relinquished second spot in the GRFL Women’s Division, following their dismal performance in the 2-4 loss to Deakin Ducks. On Saturday afternoon, the Waves will be out for redemption when they tackle top side Kardinia International College away from home.
Nicole Mills has been in scintillating form for the Waves, having scored in six of the last seven matches, and will need to be in top form if the Ocean Grove outfit is to cause a massive upset against Kardinia.
The Students, meanwhile, will be looking to sharpshooters Stephanie Cameron and Sofia Harrop to hit the back of the net. Cameron currently sits in second spot on the goalscorers’ chart with 15 goals, followed by Harrop in third spot with 13 goals.
Saturday’s clash at the Kardinia College campus in Bell Post Hill will kick-off at 1:00pm.
Norlane’s Stead Park will play host to a huge double-header on Saturday when 9th placed Geelong SC hosts the in form Deakin Ducks in the early fixture at 1:00pm, while 3rd placed Barwon SC will take on 9th placed Geelong SC in the second match at 3:00pm.
In the other Round 14 encounters, 7th placed Barwon Heads SC hosts bottom side Corio Bay at Barwon Heads Village Park (1:00pm), while 6th placed Breakwater Eagles are at home to 8th placed Surf Coast FC at the White Eagle Club (3:00pm)
