Ladies get behind anti-racism
It has been disappointing to see the recent negative press surrounding Adam Goodes. Further to that, there was some negative outbursts last week as the keyboard warriors took aim at Lael Kassem after what should have been a celebration eminating from her Goal of the Year candidate.
Last week, the Auburn Giants and the Gosford Wildcats came together as they always do for spectacular footy with no negativity or racism. It was great to see the unity in the photo to the left post-match.
Puppy love
Which Manly "Superstar" who recently made the top 10 of the AFL Sydney Top 20, house sat for one of his club mates for 3 weeks whilst on his honeymoon in Europe - enabling him to escape the clutches of living with his parents and seemingly really enjoy letting (what he has left) of his hair down. The player in question's only KPI for the 3 weeks was to keep the households dog alive. He not only did that but he signed the dog up to dating site "TinDog" and was inundated with calls from local female dog owners. Unfortunately this particular player was injured on the weekend and thus did not play, but instead of supporting his team mates, he was gallivanting down the South Coast on a romantic weekend away with a match he met on TinDog. Danny has been reliably informed the dogs were left in Sydney
Kung-fu spoiling
Danny got sent this beauty of Manly-Warringah’s Hayden Washington trying to do, I don’t know what....hopefully spoiling against St George last week. Great shot by Joel Seeto.
Follow the Ranga lead
Before Pennant Hills Premier Division match against UNSW/ES last weekend, Ranga Ediriwickrama was overheard speaking to 17 year old debutant Cooper Lee and can be quoted as saying "it's ok to feel nervous. I was nervous when I first played RAMS. Even in my second year of RAMS I was nervous. Over time it gets easier. After I was named All-Australian and got drafted by Geelong, I was fine." Thanks for the CV Reg!!
Young talent time
In the above match, Pennant Hills had an unbelievable 13 players who were 21 years or younger. Has there ever been a younger Premier Division, or first grade side for that matter to ever run out?
So You Think You Can Dance?
Danny was alarmed to see some questionable dancing techniques from Nathan Lomas who let his emotions out celebrating his performance for North Shore against Western Suburbs. You can check it out here
Say Whaaaaat?
Penrith Rams Division 3 side kicked 2 goals in second quarter followed by 11 straight behinds to lose to Western Suburbs; 13.10 88 - 4.21.45
Thriller
It was a weekend of surprises in Division One, with two one-point results the highlight. The first was 8th placed East Coast upsetting 2nd placed UTS, while 7th placed Southern Power almost caused the upset of the year by knocking off ladder-leaders Balmain who only have one loss to their name.
While Under 19 Division One has a clear-cut leader in Pennant Hills, the weekend also threw up some tight matches with the average winning margin only 22 points.
Keep an eye out for our articles on The Run Home in all of the Divisions in the coming fortnight.
Send me an Angel- Part 14
Pennant Hills’ fledgling star, Tommy Angel has done the Liz Cambage and missed footy on the weekend for Splendour in the Grass. He was so worried that he is going to lose his starting midfield spot to Tom Edmonds that he starting mud wrestling with his younger brother Harry to practice his in and under work. It was reported that Harry dominated him in the mud wrestle. Exclusive footage is available here of him post-wrestle (OK, it might be a slight exaggeration). He is now worried about his younger, more skilful brother taking his spot in 1st grade altogether.
Danny also hears that Harry has since been going around saying he can't believe he wasn't named in the AFL Sydney Top 20 players, claiming the speed and agility he has gained from a solid pre-season of smoking darts and eating Maccas is miles ahead of anyone else in the competition.
Ed’s note: Massive news! This is the third last article from Danny. Stay tuned on social media and on the AFL Sydney website as we finally reveal his identity over the coming weeks.
