St Saviours College created a small but very important piece of history last Friday night by becoming the first ever U17 Youth Girls Premiers for the Darling Downs region.
The Grand Final between St Saviours and St Josephs was played in great spirit by all competitors with St Saviours prevailing 13.11.89 to 0.0.4.
The Grand Final concluded what was a successful first year of this competition with 4 teams competing and 61 girls playing at least 1 game throughout the duration of the competition.
St Saviours also took out the senior Youth Girls Schools competition earlier this year and add another piece of silverware to their collection with their premiership win.
From the youth girls competition St Joseph’s forward Erin Richardson was awarded the leading goal kicker with team mate Becky Rogers winning the league MVP award. But it was St Saviours forward Tanika Henaway who excelled on the big stage with 4 goals in the grand final game resulting in her receiving the best on ground medallion in this game.
A big thankyou to all involved in this year’s competition. Hopefully it will be the beginning of great success and expansion in years to come.
From here all participants now have the opportunity to trial for the Darling Downs U17 Youth Girls representative side that will look to defend their division 2 title win from 2014 at the upcoming State Championships Oct 22-25.
