The Forty Winks MVP award has been creating a lot of discussion around the grounds since the list came out in the middle of the year.
For those who don't know what the award is it is ver similar to the AFL Coaches award whereby the coaches of every team selects a 5,4,3,2,1 vote getter from their respective game.
The vote getter can be from either team with the player who earns 10 votes been awarded Best on Ground honours from both coaches.
As we enter the final 6 rounds of the season and this will be the last publication of the list until Morrision Medal night we thought the changes in the current list might cause some great debate about who the winner of this award will be come seasons end.
Some supporters are keeping an eye on the Fortywinks MVP as they believe it could be a window into where the Morrision Medallist will come from.
The list below is any player who has polled more than 20 votes so far in season 2015.
Some interesting points in regards to what has occured over the last couple of weeks
- We have joint leaders after Round 12 (Shane Neaves, Shane McDonald)
- Shane McDonald has managed to pick up 13 vots (Avg 4.33 per game) over the last 3 games despite the Cats losing all 3
- Shane Neaves has picked up a massive 21 votes in the last 3 rounds (Avg 7 per game)
- Benalla's hot streak of form has seen Joshua Mellington and Sam Martyn climb into the top 5. Lachlan Smith and Will Martiniello have also had a great couple of weeks to be dangerous in the mid to high 20's.
- The Swans, Magpies, Saints and Bombers all have 4 players that have received 20 or more votes so far for the season.
- In regards to total votes received by clubs Kyabram tops the list with 252 votes (19 players), Rochester follows with 251 votes (18 Players) the Swans are in the top 3 with 245 votes (17 Players) and Benalla rounds out the top four with 226 Votes (17 Players).
It is no surprise that the top 4 teams in the competition have accumulated the most votes which sets the scene for a fantastic final 6 rounds.
