BELL Post Hill has extended its winning streak at Myers Reserve to 48 after overcoming a slow start to defeat Inverleigh by 40 points.
The Panthers found themselves 20 points in arrears at quarter time, but kicked 5.3 to 0.1 in the second quarter to regain the ascendency and lead by 12 points at half time.
From there on the reigning premier kicked away for a 17.8 (110) to 10.10 (70) victory.
Justin Tarr kicked four goals for Bell Post Hill, while Nick Costello and Jake Barlow contributed three majors apiece. Will Urquhart and Attila Sulics were the Panthers best.
Matt Seed, Dean Muir and Ryan Garrard all kicked two goals for Inverleigh, which dropped from first to third.
The stunning form of North Geelong forward Jamie Pitman has continued in a 137-point smashing of Anakie at Keith Barclay Oval.
Pitman kicked 11 goals in the 22.19 (151) to 2.2 (14) victory, giving him four double-figure hauls in the last five rounds, taking him to 72 for the season and the lead in GDFL goalkicking.
The Magpies ended the match – which doubled as the first meeting for the Ray ‘Parsy’ Priddle Memorial Shield – as a contest in the opening quarter when it slammed on 10.6 to nil.
As well as Pitman, veteran midfielder Derek Fitzsimmons and youngster Darcy Eales were impressive.
Nathan Felsner and Warren Lolicato kicked the goals for the Roos.
Bannockburn is now just percentage off top spot after making light work of Winchelsea at Victoria Park by 78 points.
The Tigers kept the Blues scoreless in the first quarter on their way to a 17.18 (120) to 6.6 (42) victory.
Tom Mullane-Grant and Kieran Fulton kicked five goals apiece, however Mullane-Grant has conceded the lead in the GDFL goalkicking to Jamie Pitman.
Will Kelly was best up forward with two goals for Winchelsea, which was best served by Graeme McFarlane and Connor Williamson.
Werribee Centrals kicked six goals to one in the final quarter to claims its fifth win of the season, 16.7 (103) to 10.14 (74).
The Centurions trailed the Cheetahs by two points at the final change at Galvin Park, but stormed home to gain some small revenge for their Round 3 loss.
Tyren Montebruno and Daniel Boyd kicked four apiece for the winners, with Luke Salmond and Sam Confait influential.
Adam Vaughan finished with four majors for West, who were best served by Ben Kelly and Caleb Baird.
