Downland's College will take to the Gabba in the Grand-Final of the Brisbane Lions Cup against the Sunshine Coast Grammar on the 28th of July.
Downlands College went through the Darling Downs under 14 competition undefeated and will be hoping to take that form into the State Grand-Final.
The boys were physical in the contest and precise with their skills to work over Toowoomba Grammar in the Darling Downs Grand-Final and will again look to do the same in the Grand-Final. Once they got their hands on the footy they looked to spread as fast as possible away from the contest once they got their hands on the ball. The key for them to win this match is to move the ball as fast possible and get their co-captain John Smith into as many one on one contests as possible in the forward 50. He was the difference in the Darling Downs competition and will look to have a big say in this match as well.
This match however will be decided in the midfield and that’s where Co-Captain Lachlan Davies will line up. Davies is a very clever footballer and Downlands will look for him to extract the ball from the contests and give the hands to his outside runners. Davies will go a long way in deciding this match for the Downland Boys. They will need a whole team effort to get over the top though.
The Boys will take to the Gabba at 11:30 for the Grand-Final on Tuesday the 28th of July.
Good luck boys and give it everything you have got.
