Tigers Roar
The Bakers Creek 'Tigresses' have recorded their second ever win in their debut season, defeating the Eastern Swans by five goals at the home of footy in Mackay, Harrup Park.
Winning their Round 14 match, keeps the yellow and black in touch with the competitions top four and will need further results similar to Saturday's upset to make a finals appearance this season.
However, for now the Tigresses are just a mere 40% outside the top 4 with the Moranbah Bulldogs on equal points but hanging onto fourth spot with a superior percentage. With Moranbah to face the Magpies next week and the Bakers Creek to face the Saints, if everything goes to script for the Tigresses they may find themselves inside the top four.
The understrength Eastern Swans, missing star players Alana McNabb, Rebecca Grummitt, were no match for the fired up Tigresses.
However, don't take anything away from Bakers Creek. Even if McNabb and Grummitt lined up, these two wouldn't of made much of a difference, as the Tigresses were unstoppable and deserving Round 14 victors in what many tipped as a one sided affair towards the Eastern Swans.
Shannon Willett was superb for the Tigresses, as was Melissa Prior for the Eastern Swans.
Final Score: Eastern Swans 3.0 (18) def. by Bakers Creek 7.6 (48)
Magpies go 10 from 10
The Mackay Magpies have made it 10 from 10 in a shortened match at Magpies Sports Park, with the match called a result midway through the third quarter after a serious injury to a Magpies player.
It has been reported that the Magpies defender suffered a serious knee injury and was taken to hospital via the Queensland Ambulance service.
Backing up from here 10-goals the week before, Magpies forward Tina Hancock added a further three goals to her season tally.
When the match was called, the Mackay Magpies were leading 4.6 (30) to 0.0 (0) and claimed the four premiership points to remain on top of the ladder.
