11. Anthony Robertson
Club: Manly-Warringah
Position: Midfield / Forward
Previous: North Shore (2007-08)
Position in last years count: 11
Analysis:
‘Robbo’ is regarded by many opposition coaches as the most important player in the Manly Warringah set up due to the number of positions he can play.
Having played with Manly-Warringah since reaching senior age, Robertson has won nearly every award available for an individual within AFL Sydney.
Robertson is a three time club Best and Fairest, 2 time Premier Division Premiership player and only last year won the Rod Podbury Medal for being the best on ground in the Premier Division Grand Final.
As predominantly an inside midfielder, his ability to go forward and kick goals (25 in 2012 and amazing 40 in the 2013 Premier Division premiership year and) is uncanny and among the best in the competition.
However, one recent negative for Robertson is his lack of time on the field. Robertson only played the nine games last year including the Grand Final due to injury and has missed the last three weeks for the Giants due to overseas travels.
Robertson was named in the 2013 AFL Sydney Team of the Year (would almost certainly have been in the 2014 had he not missed most of the season due to injury), named Best on Ground for the AFL Sydney Development team against Riverina FL in 2013 and last year was among the best in the senior sides big win over AFL Canberra. Robbo was also a winner of the Kealy Medal in 2008 as the League Under 18 Best and Fairest whilst at North Shore.
For the GIANTS to claim the Premier Division three-peat, Robertson must be fit and firing.
