18. Kieran Wright
Club: Pennant Hills
Position: Half-Back Flank
Number in last years count: -
Analysis:
The 2011 Phelan Medallist is one of the most respected players of the competition and he has furthered his reputation in the early half of 2015. Also runner-up in the count in 2012 to current Sydney Swan Dane Rampe, Wright has been a rock across the back-half for Pennant Hills for many years. His experience and leadership is well-noted and much needed this year in a young Demons line-up.
Wright has elite foot skills, which can be partially attributed to the fact he played soccer primarily through his youth. He also has great courage for a mid-sized defender, often filling the hole for the key full-forward. Regularly playing as the loose man in defence, Wright reads the ball exceptionally well and would most likely take more intercept marks each season than any other player. That combined with a booming right foot make him a vital cog of the Demon’s side.
The 32 year-old is nearing 200 games for his club and it will be one of the most celebrated milestones in AFL Sydney if and when he happens to get there.
The count so far:
20. Tom Larby (UTS)
19. Alexander Wynn (St George)
