Analysis:
The 24 year-old engineer has been a driving force behind the Bats’ rise up the ladder under Nic Fosdike. The Tasmanian recruit this year has added versatility, starting the year at centre half-forward but has been seen also floating across the half-back line.
After doing most of the pre-season with Sydney Universities NEAFL side, Larby had an immediate impact on the AFL Sydney competition in a close to Best on Ground performance in the Bats opening round demolition of Eastern Suburbs rivals UNSW/ES where he was everywhere.
AFL Sydney followers could compare his style to a Selby Lee-Steere; athletic, tall and able to take a strong contested mark. Was a valuable member of the AFL Sydney Representative side that defeated Canberra over the June long weekend. Tall key position players are like gold and Larby could go close to the most valuable recruit this year.
