Four of Queensland’s five Westfield FFA Cup representatives will be on the road in the Round of 32 after learning their fate in Wednesday afternoon’s draw.
Only Gold Coast outfit Palm Beach SC, Quarter Finalists in 2014, will enjoy home support as they drew Victorian giants South Melbourne FC in one of the showpiece clashes of the nationwide knockout tournament’s second instalment.
Brisbane Roar will hope to make a mark under new coach John Aloisi when they visit Western Sydney Wanderers, mirroring the opening match of the 2015/16 Hyundai A-League season.
Two further PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland qualifiers are set to meet Victorian counterparts away from home with Brisbane Strikers facing a tough test against in-form Melbourne outfit Hume City.
Strikers, currently second in the league, will look to replicate last year’s progression through to the Round of 16, secured by a memorable stoppage-time win over Broadmeadow Magic.
Another of Queensland’s second-time qualifiers, FNQ FC Heat of Cairns, are set to visit perennial Victorian contenders Oakleigh Cannons.
First-time qualifiers Lions FC, current leaders of the Trophy Superstore Premier League in Brisbane, can look forward to a first-up trip to meet Adelaide side Croydon Kings.
Football Queensland Chief Operating Officer Graham Lee believes all five Queensland clubs will do the state proud in the competition.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase Queensland football to the rest of Australia from the A-League through to the local level,” Mr Lee said.
“We believe every club can win their tie and advance to the next round.”
Venues, dates adn kick-off times for the fixtures will be announced Friday, July 3.
