Warragul V Moe
Warragul’s efforts to develop its young list are finally paying off, with the club celebrating its first win of the season.
“It was terrific. It was a really good feeling. Great to get our first win on the board,” said Warragul coach Steven Kidd.
Gippsland Power player Tom Hobbs was named best on ground while his TAC Cup counterpart Josh Patullo booted four goals in the Gulls 24-point win.
The pair was among four Power players in the line up.
“We had nine under eighteens playing and it was really great for them. The Power guys were terrific, they gave us a real boost at training and it fired them up, the boys got a real lift out of that,” Kidd said.
The visitor trailed the Lions by 10-points at quarter time, before regaining control in the second. Warragul led by nine points at half time before extending its lead to 21-points during the third term.
“We have come against some good sides over the past four weeks, so it was great to respond with a win,” said Kidd who is confident his young side is on the right track.
Sale V Maffra
Maffra came back from 31-points down at half time to beat Sale by nine points in yesterday’s Battle of the Birds.
“We were obviously really disappointed at half time and Wayne (Butcher) gave us a few home truths I guess. He said we had embarrassed ourselves and we felt we turned the game around. We butchered the footy early and we weren’t attacking as well as we could,” said Eagle Sam Pleming.
The Eagles came out firing in the third, slamming on six goals four, while keeping its opponent scoreless.
“I felt we were in the game and we could run over them,” Pleming said.
Maffra led by nine points at the last break, before holding on for its eighth win of the season by the same margin.
Back from Gippsland Power, Kade Renooy was among the standouts for the Eagles with three goals.
“It’s just good to get back and play for Maffra and it’s good to get a win against Sale,” he said.

Traralgon V Leongatha

With the loss Traralgon still stay in third place equal on points with Wonthaggi.
