This weekend AFL Sydney are celebrating ‘Blue Sock Round’ where we have partnered up with Beyond Blue to assist in reducing the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in the AFL Sydney community by raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.
Blue Sock Round on the 4th and 5th of July will see all senior men’s sides sporting specially designed blue socks (sky blue for the home sides, royal blue for the away sides) while the umpires in the AFL Sydney Match of the Week will all wear sky blue shirts and socks as a visible show of support for this great cause.
Thanks to BLK, the leagues naming rights sponsor, the cost of these socks has been reduced to cost price to maximise the donation we can make to Beyond Blue to assist in the important work they do.
Clubs are encouraged to promote this day yourselves and raise additional monies for which Beyond Blue have donated some fantastic prizes for participating clubs. Every club involved will go into the draw to win a signed Sydney Swans jumper while the two highest fundraising clubs will win one of the following fantastic prizes:
• Sydney Swans Players / Coaching staff to attend your clubs training one night to assist in training
• Un-catered for corporate box for 8 people to a Swans game later this year (we are still waiting to hear what game this will be for but will keep you updated).
