4. Amanda Farrugia
Club: Macquarie University
Position: Midfield
Analysis:
To some, this selection may be described as a bolter however anyone who has seen Farrugia play will know she has all the skills and ability. In fact, had she chosen to play representative football during her career she may well have been higher as this is the only unknown about ‘Fridge” however you would expect she would be able to make that jump simply.
Farrugia, while only pint-sized, has the ability to win her own football and her exceptional skills make life easier with crisp delivery to her forwards (if she doesn’t finish herself). Real football smarts make her one of the most dangerous players in the competition which ensures opposition teams closely guard her week in week out.
2013 was a halcyon year for the Macquarie University star where she won every possible honour – Best on Ground in the sides undefeated Premiership season, League Best & Fairest, League’s leading goal scorer (from the midfield), Team of the Year member and a Club Best & Fairest. In fact the only award she didnt win was that which she wasn’t eligible for , Rising Star!
The barometer of her side, the Warriors will look to Farrugia to bridge the gap to the top 4 Division One sides and be serious finals contenders.
