Williamstown and the Box Hill Hawks meet in two heavyweight battles for top spot on both the Peter Jackson VFL Senior and Development League ladders on Sunday at Burbank Oval.
The two VFL powerhouses of recent years are sitting on six wins with three other clubs on the senior ladder, but their superior percentages and Essendon having the bye this week means this clash is for first position.
It will be a rematch of last season’s memorable preliminary final, in which the Hawks pipped the Seagulls in a tight all-day tussle by seven points to advance to the Grand Final against Footscray.
Big Hawk Ben McEvoy was the chief destroyer of Williamstown’s hopes that day with 23 disposals, seven contested marks, nine tackles and 45 hitouts, and is likely to make an appearance for Box Hill again on Sunday at 2pm.
In the Development League the clubs have won six of the last seven premierships on offer, with both teams again at the pointy end of the ladder.
The teams will meet earlier in the day at 11am, with both sides undefeated so far in 2015.
This match will be covered live on 3WBC radio.
